Current Projects
The Manor of Holland project emanates from the 14th century when Sir Thomas Holland – a noted and brave soldier and his wife, Joan, the First Duchess of Kent inherited vast estates in the 1340’s – one of which was in Langton Green. Their neighbour, the Wallers lived at Groombridge Place and became great benefactors to the Parish for the next four hundred years. There is much to learn from a 1609 survey recently discovered in the Kent County Council archive.
This year will see the uncovering of what we believe to be an iron-age barrow, situated on the pathway of an ancient routeway.
