Old Groombridge Parish
Groombridge is divided by the River Grom, the northern part now known as Old Groombridge. For its small size, there are buildings of significance here. Groombridge Place, a moated manor house started life in the 1300’s was at one time owned by Sir Richard Waller who fought at Agincourt; the picturesque terraced Grade 2* houses face the Green, and the bridge over The Grom for which a toll had to be paid, dates from Saxon times.
