The Parish was not immune to wartime activities – apart from bombing, evacuations. planes shot down and a US Field Hospital, it was home to a Royal Engineers regiment, based at Shirley Hall, in Langton Green. Interesting graffiti from the period has been discovered which paints a picture of life then, and the thoughts of soldiers away from their loved ones.

Graffiti showing Hitler and a plane crashing towards him.
