Saxon Throwing Axe (called a Francisca)

Updated: Apr 10

Found on the slopes of the River Grom and believed to date from around 650 AD, the find was authenticated by the British Museum and refurbished by one of the BBC Digging for Britain team. The cost of refurbishment was covered with a donation from the Sutton Hoo Society.
